Dental Implants in Midtown Manhattan
A dental implant replaces a missing tooth from the root up: a small titanium post is placed in the jawbone and, once it has healed, supports a crown that looks and works like a natural tooth. At Al Dental Studio, Dr. Alexander Heifitz plans and places implants for single missing teeth, several teeth, and full-arch restorations.
Who is a good candidate?
Most adults who are missing one or more teeth can be considered for implants. A good candidate usually has:
- Healthy gums, or gum disease that has been treated
- Enough jawbone to hold the implant, or a plan to rebuild it with a bone graft
- General health that allows for minor oral surgery and healing
Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, and some medications can affect healing. We review your health history and imaging at the consultation and tell you honestly whether an implant is the right option.
What to expect
- Consultation and CT scan. Dr. Heifitz examines the area, reviews the 3D scan, and explains your options, including alternatives such as a bridge or denture.
- Implant placement. The post is placed under local anesthesia. Most patients return to normal routines within a day or two.
- Healing. The bone bonds to the implant over the following months. The exact time varies from patient to patient.
- Your new tooth. A custom crown is attached to the implant and adjusted to your bite.
If a tooth needs to come out first, or the bone needs to be built up, those steps are added to your plan and explained before treatment starts.

Cost and insurance
The cost of implant treatment depends on how many teeth are replaced, whether grafting or extractions are needed, and the type of crown or bridge. You will receive a written estimate after your consultation.
We accept most PPO insurance plans. Call our office to confirm yours, and we will go over your benefits and the cost of your treatment plan before anything begins.
Frequently asked questions
How long do dental implants last?
With good home care and regular checkups, implants can last for many years. How long depends on your oral health, habits such as smoking or grinding, and ongoing care. No dental treatment is guaranteed to last forever.
Does getting an implant hurt?
The area is numbed during placement, so most patients feel pressure rather than pain. Some soreness afterward is normal and is usually managed with over-the-counter pain relief. Everyone's experience is different, and we go over aftercare with you in detail.
